Device description

Modular Contactor

Modular electromechanical switching device intended for remote and automatic control of electrical loads.

A modular contactor is intended for repeated remote switching of electrical loads by means of an electromagnetic or electronically controlled actuator.

The device is typically mounted on a DIN rail in a distribution board and is designed for installation alongside other modular equipment.

The main contact system may contain normally open, normally closed, or changeover contacts. Its characteristics include operational currents and voltages, making and breaking capacity, switching frequency, timing characteristics, and power losses.

The control coil is characterized by its voltage and frequency range, operating and drop-out voltage, pull-in and holding power, current, and possible electronic control.

Some versions use wide-range coils, integrated switching-overvoltage suppression, or support an external suppression module.

Auxiliary contacts may be used for signalling, interlocking, and control circuits. Their operational voltages and currents, AC-15 and DC-13 utilization categories, minimum switching values, and operating frequency are specified separately.

The contactor may support additional front and side auxiliary contact blocks, manual operation, mirror contacts, or mechanically linked contacts.

For installation and wiring, the technologies of main, control, and auxiliary terminals, permissible conductor sizes, stripping lengths, and tightening torques are also important.

Selection criteria include load characteristics, utilization category, operational current and voltage, control-circuit parameters, contact arrangement, switching endurance, connection method, and declared compliance with applicable standards.
