Isolation Relay
Relay intended to provide galvanic separation between the control circuit and the switched electrical circuit.
An isolation relay is used to electrically separate two circuits while transferring a discrete control or switching signal.
The control coil and contact system are electrically isolated from each other.
This arrangement is used to isolate controllers, sensors, actuators, and external circuits operating at different electrical potentials.
An isolation relay may additionally amplify a control signal or convert the contact configuration.
Important characteristics include dielectric test voltage between input and output sections, control-coil parameters, permissible contact currents and voltages, and the characteristics of the switched load.
For replaceable relays, the compatible socket, retention method, and terminal construction are also considered.
Selection criteria include the required level of electrical isolation, control voltage, load characteristics, and installation conditions.
This subcategory includes electromechanical isolation relays and relay modules for galvanic separation of electrical circuits.
