Device description

Latching Relay

Electromechanical relay that retains the selected switching state after the control action is removed.

A latching relay is intended to switch between stable states while retaining the selected position without continuously energizing the control coil.

Switching may be performed by one bistable coil or by separate SET and RESET windings.

Separate coils may have individual rated voltages, currents, resistances, and power values. Reliable switching requires consideration of minimum SET and RESET pulse duration, maximum operate voltage, and transition times between states.

If the SET and RESET windings are electrically isolated, dielectric test voltage between them may be specified.

The contact system may contain normally open, normally closed, and changeover contacts and retain the corresponding position after the control signal disappears.

Such relays are used in state-memory circuits, lighting control, automation, energy-efficient systems, and other applications requiring state retention without continuous coil power.

Selection criteria include coil configuration, control-pulse parameters, number of stable states, contact configuration, load characteristics, and electrical endurance.
