Device description

Overcurrent Relay

Monitoring relay intended to detect when the monitored current exceeds a configured upper threshold.

An overcurrent relay monitors circuit current and detects when the measured value exceeds the configured upper limit.

Measurement may be direct, through an external current transformer, or by another manufacturer-specified method. The threshold may be set as an absolute current value or relative to a nominal or reference current.

When the threshold is exceeded, the device changes its output state. Adjustable delay and hysteresis may be used to prevent unwanted operation. Selection criteria include measuring range, input overload capability, connection method, threshold range, accuracy, delay, and output characteristics.
