Device description

Bidirectional Energy Meter

Meter intended to measure energy separately in import and export directions.

A bidirectional electricity meter measures and registers electrical-energy flow in both directions.

The instrument can separately account for energy imported from the grid and energy exported back to the grid. This function is used in distributed-generation systems, photovoltaic installations, energy-storage systems, and other applications with bidirectional energy exchange.

Depending on the model, active and reactive energy, four-quadrant metering, separate tariff registers, reverse-flow detection, load profiling, and remote data transmission may be supported.

For billing applications, accuracy class, metrological certification, register protection, and compliance with revenue-metering requirements are important.

Selection criteria include supported energy directions, register types, measuring connection arrangement, current ranges, tariffs, and communication interfaces.
