DC/DC Converter
DC converter that changes one DC voltage level into another, with optional galvanic isolation and bidirectional power flow.
A DC/DC converter converts a DC input voltage into the required DC output voltage.
Depending on topology, it may step voltage up, step it down, or regulate it, and may provide galvanic isolation or operate without isolation. Some converters support bidirectional transfer of power between input and output ports.
Important characteristics include input- and output-voltage ranges, rated current and power, efficiency, quiescent current, no-load consumption, input/output polarity, permissible capacitive load, and output-ground reference.
For bidirectional models, maximum reverse power and permissible reverse voltage at the output are additionally relevant.
Selection criteria include voltage ranges, isolation, power-flow direction, output power, efficiency, no-load current, protection functions, and installation conditions.
Industrial DC/DC converters, including step-up, step-down, isolated, non-isolated, and bidirectional designs.
