Motion Controller
Deterministic controller for synchronized multi-axis positioning, interpolation, electronic gearing, and camming functions.
A motion controller generates and coordinates trajectories for servo drives and machine axes. It may provide point-to-point positioning, linear and circular interpolation, gearing, camming, axis synchronization, and kinematic functions.
Key characteristics include the number of controlled, synchronized, and simultaneously interpolated axes, minimum motion cycle, command update time, synchronization accuracy, and available motion profiles. Advanced controllers may support robotics, multi-axis kinematics, safety motion, and torque control.
Communication with drives is normally provided through real-time Ethernet or a dedicated motion bus. Selection criteria include compatible drives, encoders, synchronization cycles, programming languages, motion libraries, and PLC integration.
This subcategory includes motion controllers for servo systems, positioning, synchronized machine axes, electronic gearing, and camming.
