Braking Unit
Electronic braking module that diverts regenerative energy from the DC link into a braking resistor.
A braking unit monitors DC-link voltage and connects a braking resistor or another braking element when the voltage rises above a defined level.
This dissipates energy returned by the motor during deceleration or generating operation when regeneration to the supply is not used.
Key parameters include trigger voltage, permissible braking-load resistance, continuous and peak power, duty cycle, and braking-pulse energy. Thermal monitoring may be provided.
Selection considers DC-link voltage, mechanical braking energy, required duty cycle, resistor value, and thermal capability.
Braking chopper/unit modules for VFD, servo, and modular drive systems.
