Device description

Reversing Motor Starter

Starter for controlling motor rotation in forward and reverse directions with interlocking of switching devices.

A reversing starter changes motor direction by changing phase sequence or otherwise switching the power circuit.

A typical arrangement uses two mutually interlocked contactors that cannot be energized simultaneously. Depending on the design, the motor may have to stop completely before reversal or a defined changeover delay may be provided.

The assembly may also contain overload and short-circuit protection, local controls, an enclosure, and auxiliary indication.

Selection considers motor ratings, reversing frequency, required changeover delay, electrical and mechanical interlocking, and protective-device coordination.
