Battery Fuse
High-breaking-capacity fuse intended to protect battery DC circuits against hazardous short-circuit and overcurrent conditions.
A battery fuse protects the battery circuit and connected equipment against high short-circuit currents. Battery systems can produce very large DC fault currents, making breaking capacity, time-current characteristic, and operating-voltage rating critical.
The fuse should be installed as close as practical to the protected energy source, coordinated with contactors, DC disconnects, and power converters.
Selection considers rated current, maximum battery DC voltage, prospective short-circuit current, permissible I²t energy, and applicable standards including IEC 60269-7.
This subcategory includes fuses for batteries, energy-storage systems, battery racks, and high-energy DC circuits.
