Residual Direct Current Detecting Device
Protective device for detecting residual direct current in electric-vehicle charging circuits.
An RDC-DD detects residual direct current that may arise from faults in the electric vehicle power stage or charging circuit.
Such DC current can affect the operation of conventional residual-current protective devices intended for AC.
The RDC-DD forms part of the EVSE electrical protection system and may be integrated into the charging station or implemented as a separate module.
Key characteristics include the DC residual-current detection threshold, response time, output-signal arrangement, self-monitoring, and compatibility with the applied RCD.
Selection criteria include the charging-point protection architecture and applicable IEC 62955 requirements.
