Type 2 Charging Socket
Stationary IEC 62196 Type 2 socket outlet for connecting a detachable electric-vehicle charging cable to AC EVSE.
A Type 2 charging socket forms the interface between the charging station and a detachable EV charging cable.
It contains power contacts, protective conductor PE, and Control Pilot and Proximity Pilot signal contacts.
The design should provide the required current and voltage, mechanical endurance, degree of protection, and safe plug locking during charging.
Contact material and plating affect electrical resistance, heating, and wear resistance.
Selection criteria include rated current, number of phases, housing and contacts, PP resistance, locking mechanism, and compliance with IEC 62196.
Type 2 socket outlets for AC EVSE and wallboxes.
