EV Charging Cable
Flexible power and signal cable for connecting an electric vehicle to a charging station or EVSE.
An EV charging cable transfers electrical power and control signals between the charging station and the electric vehicle.
It contains power conductors, protective conductor, and Control Pilot and Proximity Pilot signal conductors; some designs may include additional conductors or a shield.
Important cable characteristics include conductor material and class, conductor cross-sections, outer-sheath material and thickness, flexibility, mass, and mechanical resistance.
Connectors should provide the required current and voltage, low contact resistance, mechanical retention, and resistance to repeated connection cycles.
Selection criteria include charging current and power, number of phases, length, conductor size, flexibility, abrasion and torsion resistance, strain relief, and compliance with IEC 62893.
