Encoder / Feedback Cable
Signal cable for transmission of data and analogue signals from encoders, resolvers, and other drive-feedback sensors.
An encoder/feedback cable connects a motor or measuring device to a servo drive, CNC controller, or motion controller. Its purpose is reliable transmission of position, speed, and other feedback information.
Feedback signals often have low amplitude and are routed near motor cables carrying high voltage and current slew rates, so immunity to electromagnetic interference is particularly important.
The construction may include twisted pairs, individual screens for selected circuits, and an overall screen. Conductor count depends on the encoder or resolver type, temperature sensors, and other functions of the specific feedback system.
Selection parameters include feedback conductor count and arrangement, relevant pair impedance, screening, flexibility, permissible length, and cable-motion conditions.
Compatibility must be evaluated against the specific drive, motor, or CNC interface because different feedback systems have different electrical requirements.
