EMC / RFI Filter
Mains or drive filter intended to reduce conducted electromagnetic interference between equipment and the power supply network.
An EMC / RFI filter is installed in a power circuit to limit high-frequency conducted interference propagating through supply conductors or a drive system.
Its internal circuit normally combines inductive and capacitive elements to provide the required attenuation over a specified frequency range.
Selection criteria include rated voltage and current, number of phases, inductance, percentage impedance, voltage drop, power losses, and the frequency range over which attenuation is declared.
For drive systems, leakage current, grounding arrangement, motor-cable length, and compatibility with the specific VFD or servo drive are also important.
The actual EMC effectiveness of the filter strongly depends on installation practice, shielding continuity, PE connections, and conductor routing inside the cabinet.
EMC/RFI filters for drives, machines, automation cabinets, and mains power circuits.
