Common-Mode Filter
Filter intended to reduce common-mode currents and high-frequency interference in power and drive circuits.
A common-mode filter presents high impedance to currents flowing in the same direction through several conductors relative to earth or chassis.
It is used to reduce common-mode noise, currents through parasitic capacitances, bearing currents, and EMC interference generated by power-electronic systems.
Its main characteristics are inductance and common-mode impedance specified at a defined frequency.
Additional selection parameters include rated current, percentage impedance, operating voltage drop, and power losses.
Filter effectiveness depends on connection method, conductor geometry, the PE arrangement, and the actual frequency spectrum of the interference.
Common-mode filters for VFDs, machines, EMC applications, and power-electronic systems.
