EMC Ferrite Core
Ferrite component installed around a cable or conductor bundle to suppress high-frequency common-mode interference.
An EMC ferrite core adds impedance to unwanted high-frequency interference currents while having little influence on the useful low-frequency component of a signal or power circuit.
It may be solid, split clamp-on, or another mechanical design and can be installed on power, motor, signal, or data cables.
The number of cable passes through the core changes the effective impedance and suppression level, so it must correspond to the conditions under which the manufacturer declares performance.
Selection criteria include ferrite construction type, internal aperture size, number of cable turns or passes, common-mode impedance, and attenuation frequency range.
Effectiveness depends on ferrite material, interference frequency, number of cable passes, and the location of the ferrite relative to the interference source.
