Moulded Case Circuit Breaker
Low-voltage circuit breaker in a moulded insulating enclosure, intended for switching and protecting electrical circuits against overcurrents and other specified fault conditions.
A moulded case circuit breaker (MCCB) is intended for switching and protecting low-voltage electrical circuits. Depending on the version, it may provide protection against overload, short circuit, ground fault, residual current, and other monitored electrical conditions.
MCCBs are commonly used in distribution equipment, industrial installations, machine power systems, and incoming and distribution circuits. Compared with miniature circuit breakers, they generally cover a wider current range and may provide advanced setting, measurement, diagnostic, and communication functions.
The construction may be fixed, plug-in, or withdrawable. Plug-in and withdrawable versions may use separate bases, cradles or chassis, racking mechanisms, interlocks, and position-signalling contacts.
The trip unit may be thermal-magnetic, electronic, or another specified type. Electronic trip units may support adjustable long-time, short-time, instantaneous, ground-fault, neutral, and residual-current protection, multiple setting groups, thermal memory, and zone selective interlocking.
Advanced versions may include auxiliary releases and contacts, motor operators, measurement functions, trip history, data logging, condition and wear monitoring, self-diagnostics, and maintenance functions.
Selection criteria include rated frame current, trip-unit rated current and type, breaking capacity, selectivity category, available protection functions and setting ranges, pole configuration, mounting execution, main connection arrangement, accessories, diagnostic functions, and operating conditions.
This subcategory includes moulded case circuit breakers (MCCB) in fixed, plug-in, and withdrawable versions, with thermal-magnetic and electronic trip units, adjustable protection functions, auxiliary releases, contacts, measurement, diagnostics, and control functions.
