Electronic Circuit Protector
Electronic single- or multi-channel device intended to protect, distribute, and selectively disconnect low-voltage power circuits supplying equipment.
An electronic circuit protector is intended to monitor current electronically and disconnect the protected circuit when specified limits are exceeded. Such devices are frequently used in power circuits for control systems, PLCs, sensors, actuators, and other automation components.
The device may have one or more independent output channels. Individual channels may support separate switching, adjustable current limiting, trip-state memory, and remote reset.
Unlike purely thermal or electromagnetic protection, an electronic system can actively limit current and implement a defined current-limiting characteristic. Multi-channel versions may provide sequential channel start-up to reduce the total inrush current.
Some models may include Ethernet and other interfaces for diagnostics, status monitoring, and control. Rated power and power consumption describe the electrical capability of the device and the power consumed by the device itself, respectively.
Selection criteria include the number of channels, current-limit range and characteristic, rated electrical values, integrated overload and short-circuit protection, individual channel control, remote reset, communication interfaces, and declared compliance with applicable standards.
This subcategory includes single- and multi-channel electronic protection modules, electronic circuit breakers, and protection/distribution modules for low-voltage control and automation circuits.
