Residual Current Device Block
Residual-current protection module intended to operate with a compatible circuit breaker and actuate its tripping mechanism.
A residual current device block is intended to add residual-current protection to a compatible circuit breaker or other specified switching device.
The block itself may not include a complete overcurrent protection mechanism and is designed to operate together with a specific circuit breaker. A mechanical or other specified coupling transmits the residual-current trip command to the operating mechanism of the associated device.
Key characteristics include rated residual operating current, type of residual current detected, operating principle, pole arrangement, compatibility with the circuit breaker, and the method used to actuate its mechanism.
Depending on the design, the block may include a TEST button, residual-current trip indication, additional contacts, and dedicated monitoring functions.
When selecting the device, manufacturer-confirmed compatibility with the specific circuit breaker is particularly important because the mechanical and electrical coupling forms part of the complete protection system.
This subcategory includes add-on and attachable residual-current blocks mechanically or functionally combined with compatible circuit breakers.
